Dr. Nataša Veličković, PI of the Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković” (IBISS), was an invited speaker in the series of lectures organized within the PFAStwin project, with the aim of facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experience related to PFAS in Serbia. Her lecture entitled “The influence of PFAS on the development of metabolic diseases” took place on 18 March 2025 in the Small Hall of the Kolarac Foundation.
Dr. Veličković gave an overview of the EDC-MASLD project and the current understanding of the impact of endocrine disrupting chemicals, especially PFAS, on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The aim of this presentation was to raise awareness of the health impact of EDCs in Serbia, to promote preventive measures in the fight against the metabolic disease pandemic in Serbia and to increase the visibility and impact of the EDC-MASLD project among the public.
