EDC-MASLD Research Presented at the 51st AEEH Congress in Madrid

Researchers from the EDC-MASLD project participated in the 51st Annual Congress of the Spanish Association for the Study of the Liver (AEEH), held in Madrid, Spain, from 18–20 February 2026.

During the conference, María Martín-Grau and Stefania Carobbio from the EDC-MASLD partner institution Centro de Investigación Príncipe Felipe ((FVIB-CIPF) presented a poster highlighting results from ongoing research within Work Package 5 of the project.

The poster, titled Sex-specific metabolic alterations induced by short-term PFOA exposure in a mouse model of MASLD,” presented findings from a pilot in vivo study examining metabolic effects of short-term exposure to perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA).

The research was conducted by María Martín-Grau, Tuulia Hyötyläinen, Matej Orešič, Jorke Kamstra, Antonio Vidal-Puig, and Stefania Carobbio as part of the collaborative efforts within the EDC-MASLD consortium.

Participation in the AEEH Congress offered an important opportunity to share these findings with the broader liver research community and to engage in discussions on the role of environmental factors in metabolic liver diseases.
