Annual Meeting 2026: Two Days of Science in Utrecht

The EDC-MASLD consortium convened for its annual General Assembly and project meeting on April 9–10, 2026, coordinated by Örebro University and hosted by Utrecht University at the historic Academiegebouw on Domplein. All 15 partners from across 10 countries gathered to share the latest scientific advances, review progress, and shape the next phase of this Horizon Europe-funded initiative. Bringing together expertise spanning environmental health, systems medicine, and liver disease research.

Two days of rich scientific exchange covered new large-scale chemical exposomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics results from the European Steatotic Liver Disease Registry; advances in zebrafish and cell-based screening models, PFOA mouse studies, and perinatal MASLD models; progress on the GR-MASLD Adverse Outcome Pathway network framework; and a socioeconomic scoping review on the burden of MASLD in Europe alongside preliminary findings from the Torino dataset.

Beyond the science, the meeting reinforced collaboration across the consortium, fostering alignment between disciplines and institutions united in their goal of understanding how endocrine-disrupting chemicals contribute to liver disease. With new data emerging across multiple work packages, the project continues to build momentum toward meaningful impact.
