Tuulia Hyötyläinen became a professor of chemistry at Örebro University in 2016. Her background is in analytical chemistry and she has an extensive background in separation science, particularly in chromatographic methods combined with mass spectrometric techniques, with focus on metabolomics and exposome research. The goal of her research is to get an insight of the health consequences of environmental factors by combining comprehensive chemical characterization of both endogenous and exogeneous compounds and combining this data with health outcomes. Particularly the impact of early life exposure to environmental contaminants, and their interaction between metabolome, genetic factors and microbiota has been in central role in her research during the last years. In the current project, she is the Coordinator PI.
